Medicaid Waiver

North Carolina has changed the way Medicaid pays for mental health, substance use, intellectual and developmental disability services.  The change is known as the 1915(b)/(c) Medicaid Waiver.

The goal of the change is to make sure people needing help are able to easily get high quality services.  East Carolina Behavioral Health (ECBH) implemented the change on April 1, 2012, becoming a Managed Care Organization (MCO).

Explore the Web pages in this section to learn more about the Waiver and why NC and ECBH made this change and what it means for consumers, families, providers and others.
